Welcome, I am Amanda Gibbons!
Life has a way of pulling us under—whether it’s the weight of anxiety, the ache of grief, the exhaustion of new motherhood, or the uncertainty of major life transitions. Maybe you're feeling stuck, lost, or simply overwhelmed by it all. I want you to know: you don’t have to navigate this alone.
The heaviness that comes with life's challenges can feel unbearable at times. I deeply understand this struggle, not just as a therapist, but as someone who has walked through it myself. The journey of motherhood is often a mosaic of joy and heartbreak, and for many, including myself, it’s a path filled with unexpected turns. After my experience with miscarriage, I found myself grappling with an inescapable weight—an incessant balancing act between gratitude for a new pregnancy and an all-consuming fear that felt like an uninvited guest at every moment of joy.
The anticipation I had felt—once pure and excited—became tainted by doubt and anxiety, a reminder of what I had lost. These feelings shaped my journey, deepened my capacity for empathy, and solidified my passion for helping others find their way through similar struggles. I learned that the heart holds room for both joy and sorrow; it's a poignant reminder of the complex nature of our experiences. My personal journey has profoundly influenced my role as a licensed clinical social worker specializing in EMDR, CBT, family systems, grief therapy, and perinatal mental health (PMH-C).
Yet, beyond the techniques and training, my core approach centers on meeting you where you are—with warmth, understanding, and a genuine commitment to your healing. It’s about creating a safe space where you can share your story and feel heard, where your pain is acknowledged and your victories celebrated. I particularly love working with teens, young adults, adults, and parents—those navigating the challenging terrain of adolescence, the turbulence of young adulthood, or the complexities of parenthood. Together, we explore the narratives that shape you, unraveling the threads of your discomfort and reconnecting you with your strengths.
Together, we can work through what’s weighing you down, step by step—whether it’s anxiety gripping your chest, grief that feels all-consuming, or the overwhelming challenges of daily life. It’s important to recognize that therapy isn’t about fixing you—because you were never broken. Rather, it’s about rediscovering your resilience, processing your pain, and stepping into the life you deserve.
If you find yourself ready to begin this journey of healing, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Let’s forge a path toward wholeness, together.
